BBC News reporting the share of 16-34 year olds fell from 22% when BBC3 closed to just 6% today. Whilst no doubt it would have fallen anyway closing it obviously was the disaster we all though it would be, hence it's return.
Something I'm struggling to fathom is why people are talking about the cost. There's a Guardian piece today moaning about how this is costing the BBC money while other areas are likely to be cut back.
But the programming was already being made for iPlayer, the transmitters are already on and broadcasting the rest of the BBC, so how is it costing them a significant amount more than it was prior to today? There's a bit of continuity and some idents, and that's about it, as far as I can see. Can someone more knowledgeable enlighten me as to what this is actually costing?
