I agree with everyone's comments about Piers. I wasn't his biggest fan. His rants and tirades could be full on in the morning. However, whether you liked him or not he managed to captivate the audience which made people watch. I find it more relaxing watching GMB, however it is a bit dull.
I found it curious today that they sidelined Adil Ray for Susanna Reid. He was due to present with Kate. As some have mentioned if he is Pier's potential replacement then why wasn't he given the chance to present and get more experience delivering a big news story. I think Adil is alright as a Relief/cover presenter. He has improved his presenting skills and has good chemistry with the team. But, he still lacks the gravitas in my opinion. .
As other's have mentioned they will probably rotate presenters with different combinations over the next few months. I always thought Bill Turnbull would be an excellent candidate given his chemistry with Susanna. When he guest presented on the show last year the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Although, Bill is still recovering from his prostate cancer and has said before he only wanted to guest present.
In terms of the new desk, I do like it. It is very big and solves the issue of accommodating guests socially distanced. It does seem slightly out of shape with the credenza. In future, I hope they could use other parts of the studio for interviews when it is safe to do so. The sofa area they had before was vastly underused. With the new desk I appreciate limits of what can be done in terms of space. But, it would be nice to see them use the full studio space.
