There does seem to be an increasing amount of trailers which advertise shows being on BBC iPlayer (or BBC Sounds), but doesn't mention they also have a broadcast slot.

Hopefully the relaunch will integrate the two better - I might be getting this wrong but I think the way it's heading is that content will be promoted more as being on the BBC rather than a specific service.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the iPlayer only promos are for boxsets and past shows that aren't currently being aired, no?
Usually but EastEnders is regularly promoted with an iPlayer only trailer and seen it happen with a few current shows too.

I don't really see the problem with iPlayer only trails. Ultimately, linear TV isn't the behemoth it used to be and driving people to watch "live" at a certain time just isn't that important any more for most shows. It's a different kettle of fish for live "event" output like Strictly, or Children in Need, but really whether someone is watching EastEnders at 8pm on BBC One or casually two days later on iPlayer makes no real difference to the impact of the show or its official ratings.

I assume those producing these trails have made a conscious decision to simplify the call to arms at the end. Why overload viewers with info ("Tonight on BBC One, repeated tomorrow on BBC Two, omnibus this Sunday BBC Two, or catch up on iPlayer!") when a simple "Now on iPlayer" will drive them to the content you want which will subsequently draw their awareness to more other shows through iPlayer's banners and trailers at the same time.
