BBC Three news wise ideally needs the hourly 60 second bulletin back. They worked well straight to the point and people where watching them because it was in between programs that the viewers wanted to watch. I would do ideally do a program what is a cross between the old 7 o clock news and liquid news and this is what could take the newsbeat name but the problem like mentioned is where do you actually put it 7PM while not ideal due to it having to start from scratch might actually be the best solution. The only other time that could possibly work is 10:30 and that could be to late. However if it tailored towards the target audience perhaps with special reports from viewers and promoted on BBC one / Two and regular promotions from radio 1 while it won’t be a ratings hit it could do decent especially with the TV landscape completely different from 2005 and everyone having access to BBC Three now.
On the wider point of BBC Three apart from news I feel it needs a flagship show as well. Its all having the current stuff what’s on Iplayer but if they nothing to really bring viewers to the channel they might as well just continue with the current way of doing things. So a late night low budget magazine show could work possibly wrapped around other shows.
