I have a question about ITN HQ. I was visiting London yesterday and realised I was on Grey’s Inn Road. I walked past ITN Headquarters and was surprised to see neither the ITN logo (or any mention of it), nor the logos of any and of the news programmes they produce.

I see online that ITN don’t own the building (it’s marketed as 200 Gray’s Inn Road) but was this always the case? I’d have thought a prominent tenant would at least have their name shown. Is there any ITV branding at TVC?

ITV do not own the studios they used at Television Centre, those studios are owned by BBC Studioworks and are hired out to ITV Daytime under a sublet agreement. The ITV logo is only seen usually as part of the main logo for the ITV Daytime shows based at Television Centre. So e.g. This Morning logo would have the smaller ITV logo alongside it typically.

ITN as a name and branding has been gradually eradicated by ITV from any on screen presentation since the 2013 rebrand. ITV prefer viewers now recognise ITV News as just that ITV News, with ITN now becoming a redundant name. Shame, as that branding has provided some of the best ever news coverage and presentation in British broadcasting history - however just as the old ITV regional names of Granada, LWT etc have been largely dumped from on screen branding, the same has been true with ITN.

ITN only occupy a portion of 200 Grays Inn Road, with the main newsroom on one floor, two basement studios and the atrium studio used by Channel 4 News.

you’re forgetting the newsrooms of C4 & C5, ITN’s managers, the many different parts of ITN Productions plus all the ITN edit suites that get used for all sorts of stuff including Love Island. ITN may be a redundant name on ITV, but the brand remains strong in media world.

The very few itn feeds I’ve seen have the itn productions logo all over it I’ve even seen the very old mid 90s itn endcap which I last saw on Dominic Cummings briefing in the Downing Street garden, in short it’s alive and well.
