I doubt the English regions would be able to rehearse if they were permanently opted to show their clocks.

The reason any self respecting TV outfit does, to ensure the timings are correct, the clips play in OK, the presenter is familiar with the script etc etc.
If you want to see what happens if you don't rehearse and prepare, tune into Freeview Ch 236 or Sky 515 any time day or night
