The video we've seen of the practical effect of the smokey globe troubles me on two points, 1) the 1 and BBC logo are physically on the perspex, when we know they are keyed on and 2) theres a big window in the background, when surely it would be in a light-tight studio. It might be representative of how elements were made, but I'm sure there was more electronic work involved.
