The trouble with Alastair Campbell is however good he is he will forever be strongly linked with Labour, which I think is tricky should they give him a permanent role, especially in election periods. Maybe Boris could alternate with him.
I was thinking also that Colin Murray could be a good fit for a stint at some point?
Piers had a good run really - 6 years is a pretty long time in breakfast TV on ITV at least.
