Ah. Tbf it is a rather valid criticism, I don't recall them referring to David Cameron simply as "Dave" or "David" for example.

No, but Thatcher was often referred to as 'Maggie'

I think the issue is that some see calling the PM ‘Boris’ rather plays up to an image of him as a loveable, daft chum, which arguably benefits his appeal. In contrast, I don’t think ‘Maggie’ was ever used in a particularly positive way.
