BBC (Miscellaneous): 2021 Rebrand

Well thinking on about the children's services. I think CBeebies won't ever get a Reithified logo. Maybe they'll use the Reith Sans type in bold for normal text and stuff like that but that is it as I can see.

My theory behind this is what I heard someone say on a podcast about familiarity with the CBeebies brand and not deviating too much from it because of the target demographic.

Yeah, the kids channels aren't getting new logos, they still need the blocks updating on their pres though.

As for icons, CBBC's can just be it's logo, and Cbeebies can do what it's app does, and use a yellow blob.
Sounds icon animation…

Saw a new trail for Top Gear this evening and rather than having the black "and watch on iPlayer" at the end the ONE at the bottom of the screen flipped to say iPLAYER. The trail then ended with the BBC 100 logo animation.

There was an "Outlaws" trail with that too...

You see the new trail of Top Gear after which programme? Do iPlayer icon displayed?
ONE flipped to iPLAYER? As in, back to the pre-rebrand style animation, just in the new font?
Having just looked back where the ONE flips to the word iPlayer at the bottom. Just above that it says arriving soon. It the cuts to the blocks forming the 100 with a BBC logo above and 100 years of our BBC below.  No new iPlayer icon used.

The BBC Brand Refresh is in the branding category of the D&AD awards, and the pencil winners of that category and others are going to be announced tonight. I hope the BBC Brand Refresh wins a pencil, my prediction being either a wood or graphite pencil. Could be a yellow pencil too, if possible.
...Well, that sucks - they didn't get anything

I am honestly shocked by this, I genuinely thought they were going to win something
The D&AD Award are a huge, huge deal, they're a real piece of industry recognition – the competition is tough. It's no huge surprise that the BBC didn't win, which is not to say the design isn't good, just that there's a lot out there.
Well they didn’t win since no one can see the contents of the clip blocked on copyright grounds.
Apologies if mentioned but is a new Jubilee version of the logo now which sticks the BBC logo alongside a Jubilee logo in the centre of the screen. It still ends with the animaiton with the blocks stretching before cutting to an ident with the logo forming at the top of the screen, but actually the visual connection still somewhat works.

I wonder how much they look at implementation. There was a lot of talk in the entry around the BBC being simple, easy to navigate with the new symbols, and a joined up audience experience - when there are still old logos about and limited use of said icons, I’m not sure that’s a fair assessment of where we are.
