Aside from the blooper, above, the VO always sounds drowned-out at parts.

For me, this is the problem. I don’t think the voiceover is bad, but it just gets lost in the mix. It needs a bit of processing to give it a bit of extra welly, and balancing better with the music.

Ben and Charlotte isn't a particularly unexpected pairing; if the voiceovers were done in one piece you'd expect them to have that one in the bag.

Yes, you’re spot on.

Otherwise, I quite like the GMB opening package. The music is otherwise sublime. Graphics, studio, desk: all great. Only the VO need sorting.

Pleasantly surprised by this.

Compare this to the promos in 'the Piers era' and it was all about how fiery and combative the show is, trying to make out that Piers shouting at everyone was compelling and unmissable viewing. I can do without that.

Instead of 'we shout and whip things up so come and watch the tabloid slanging match every morning', this promo says 'we're a team, we're working hard to bring you the information you want to know from around the world, join us as we guide you through it all'. Much prefer this sort of positive messaging; it's so much more appropriate for a morning news programme.

Let's hope this is a sign of things to come - moving away from the brash, bombastic "we need to be noticed at any opportunity no matter for good or bad reasons" style, and a shift to providing something that is actually worth watching and informative to the viewer.

I quite like that promo, I think a more positive approach is needed for GMB. I know BBC Breakfast gets a lot of slack for being a bit safe but there's a reason it does so well.

Without getting into rota talk (but doing exactly that I guess) did Susanna just do Monday last week or did they use her on Friday as well to preview the funeral?

Hopefully the next few months do her good - when she moved initially it was very much a Susanna led programme with her clearly being the senior co-host and she was given the opportunity to show off her credentials in a way perhaps Breakfast didn't allow. Obviously over the years Piers over shadowed her and although at times she showed exactly how good a journalist she was in many ways her role was reduced to eye rolling as Piers ranted on.

I agree with this, but I think that Susanna's 'minimized-role' after Piers took over is exaggerated. She still proved valuable to counter Piers's arguments in debates and still put in her own input, challenging Piers a lot of the time. The reason that many think that she just sat there and rolled her eyes is because the vast majority of clips we saw in the press were of Piers ranting, not Susanna providing a counter-argument as she usually did.

However it is nice to see the correspondents appearing, Richard Gaisford, Nick Dixon and Jonathan Swain have been familiar faces on ITV/GMTV for years.

Absolutely. It's great to see the show being promoted as a team of people working together to bring you the news again, rather than
"Hey, you! Tune in to The Piers Morgan Breakfast Show for shouting, scathing criticism, and people talking over each other... now with 75% more eye rolling! He's the man we all love to hate, so tune in to see his latest antics live every weekday from 6am!"

Really hopeful from this new promo that the show is going to move away from the disreputable path it began going down with Morgan at the helm and begin to prove itself to be a worthy competitor to the BBC without having to resort to clickbait and slanging matches.
