BBC Newsnight

Back at BBC Wales tonight.

Are they produced by BBC Wales/Scotland when they relocate?

Have to wonder with other covid-contingency measures returning whether Newsnight might end up back in Studio E again in the short term.

There's no reason to move back to E. 54D is its new permanent home, it doesn't interfere with the Ten, it doesn't interfere with Persian, they get different studio areas and rehearsal time which is not available in E. And the technical shift which does the show is pretty much dedicated to Newsnight at the moment, so no cross-contamination worries with them moving around different studios.

I think Brekkie means if there are lots of staff absences.

Emily Maitlis speaks out against the BBC reprimanding her on two occasions in the last year - one for her Dominic Cummings monologue at the start of Newsnight last May and one for retweeting a Piers Morgan tweet. Maitlis says the BBC is wrong.

Job going at Good Morning Britain for Maitlis?

Think Newsnight should move back to Studio B as soon as staffing levels allow.

It's not happening. The studio has been mothballed permanently, apart from for election programming

No, same studio as always - just different lighting
Victoria Derbyshire is presenting one day this week according to the Freeview EPG.

Kirsty Wark mentioned at the end of tonight’s programme that Victoria will be presenting tomorrow.
Even passing taxi drivers have a chance of hosting Newsnight in the summer.

That made me laugh out loud!

I think she'll be very good at Newsnight given her interview style on the News Channel.
It’ll be a long day for Victoria as she’s also doing the News at One (and presumably the 5pm NC hour) today.
Can't be often, if ever, that someone has hosted Newsnight and the 1pm News in the same day.
