Three RTP's were received regarding those posts, which sort of suggests to me that those people weren't happy with that kind of discussion here. OK, I can accept that the comments were meant to be humourous with no malice intended, and I'm happy to backtrack on my comments.
Rob, that's how they get in.
They describe their political spamming as a bit of humour or a bit of fun.
And then, after a while, the volume of political spam puts others off from joining in on a thread and it becomes an echo chamber for these people.
Why not put a little tick box under the posting panel which has next to it - "I promise that no other member of the forum will be able to guess my political affiliations by reading the contents of this post".
It might give these spammers time to consider their behaviour.

You say only discuss the presentation and branding, don't discuss politics - but seem to completely fail to recognise that with GB News they go hand in hand. We've a thread so full of Union Jack motives it's as if you're reading a fansite for UKIP and the BNP. GB News is using the most politically motivated branding we have probably ever seen in the UK, yet it seems anyone who wishes to call that out is now being branded a "spammer" and that it's only one side of the political views which gets questioned.
We all know things got out of hand at TV Forum and the quality of discussion here has been much better, mainly thanks to there being much more to discuss, but we're in a position where a large chunk of the membership are having to walk on eggshells and can't share their honest opinions, or more specifically an odd quip, without the likes of Johnny piping up and telling us to pipe down. And it is usually the posts of those nature, not the initial comment, which sends things off track. Just as nobody cares about each others political views, nobody cares that you don't care either - even though it's clearly the people who say they don't care who seem to care the most.

More self-justifying spam, I'm afraid.
It takes someone of a certain mindset to believe that the appearance of a Union Jack on a forum about TV presentation discussing a channel whose logo encompasses the Union Jack could possibly be "a fansite for UKIP and the BNP".
Respectfully, Brekkie, you need help if you think that.
The reason these types of comments cause offense is because, in this post for example, you equated the BNP with UKIP.
Regardless of your or my position on Brexit, I know many people personally who voted for UKIP (at one election, 25% of the population did) who I know detest and deplore the ideology of the BNP.
It's this lazy confligration on both left and right of the "others" which drags threads off-topic and puts people's backs up.
(And for the record, I have never voted UKIP or BNP).
STOP SPAMMING TVL, BREKKIE!!! I actually like your non-political contributions (not that you need my approval or anything) but I don't know why this will not get into your head.
Asa didn't want it. Rob doesn't want it. People send reports about these types of post because they don't want it either.
For once sir, can you take a telling?

I'm aware of that. Will try and fix it, but I don't think it should be too much of an issue.

This might sound like a daft question, but is there a time out function on the ‘remember me’ button? I’ve been logged out twice after checking the box when logging in.

Not as far as I'm aware. I'll have a look later this week.

Just a quirk I noticed - sometimes users that are online will appear with the green dot next to their username in posts, and other times I will see the little blue "online" ribbon to the right of the post. It interchanges randomly. Very minor and there's no problem with functionality or posting at all, just thought I'd report it in case there's something amiss with the forum software.
I'm using the latest Chrome on desktop Windows 10.
The green dot denotes that they are online but in the secret forum.

That appears to be a quirk with the forum theme. I'll have a look and try and fix that when the next update is ready.

Love the new "buttons" on the front page. Especially the "F1 Help" image for the requests. Please whatever you do. Don't get rid. I love seeing these.
Can I make a moderation suggestion intended warm heartedly and constructively...
Instead of the public flogging by way of placing big ugly warnings on peoples posts, why not remove the material and PM the member if it's so serious.
As a new member, it's a minefield to know what is and isn't an acceptable topic - certainly this isn't married up with what was and wasn't on TV Forum - which is absolutely Rob's prerogative. But when you sign up, there are no guidelines presented and although there is a pinned "Forum Guidelines" post, only (up to) a third of the membership have viewed it. I've only just realised it had been updated this month as the forum indexes only show the date it was original posted (21st March) and it's not all that comprehensive.
For instance, I had a post flagged about Steve Dixon removing all his public / Sky branded social media accounts - it certainly doesn't go against any of the forums guidelines in the pinned post and I thought it was of interest since he, as one of the current longest serving members of the on-air presentation team, was a heavy poster of Sky News content and material.
But the warning - " I don't - that kind of speculation is not welcome here" - doesn't half come off as quite dictatorially especially as there was no speculation, just a "wonder why..." post seeing if another member was aware of why the sudden removal from social media.
Also worth pointing out that I'd never have seen the warning as I don't tend to read backwards through old posts. I only became aware as someone I know who looks at the forum messaged to say I was in detention! I'd hope the point of the warnings is to make the user aware and not intended to shame them but there is a good chance they'd never see the warning - hence my suggestion about them being PM'd instead.
