There is a new series on Netflix called "Swap Shop: Dash for Cash" which reveals something I had no idea about - the Swap Shop format was a fixture of US radio back in the 80s and continues to exist in some areas today. Not sure whether the BBC version predates these or was inspired by them.
This new series basically takes the swaps called into a radio show into the kind of Pawn Stars/Storage Hunters realm, with a bit of added reality TV editing for added inauthenticy. Not watched it but thought it quite interesting how a live Saturday Morning show of the 70s is now kind of reimagined as such a show and also how a format can live on long after it's initial run ended in place you might not expect.
