LWT Charity Closes

Not a massive headline but thought it was interesting that one of those little bits of old ITV was still going, and has now closed. I'd never heard of it but the LWT Charitable Trust has been run by ITV and ex staff for 30 years as a hardship fund to support former employees and is now closing with £115k going to the Film and TV Charity.

On a related note I suppose it could be argued that ATV set up the so-called "Crossroads Caring for Carers" charity off the back of a storyline featured in the original show, taking something fictional and making it real. ATV fed some money to get a pilot scheme going for the charity that ran for two years before it stood on its own., and its still running today best part of 35 odd years later. Not entirely sure if ATV (or later Central) had anything to do with it once the pilot ended.
