Russel was on The One Show promoting his friend that inspired a character in It's A Sin. He didn't say much about the 60th, but talked about Ryan Gosling wearing the bootleg merchandise and said he was given a screener of Jodie's final 90 minute episode, he called it fantastic with lots of surprises

Rani's return (albeit on audio) is wonderful news. It feels like a de facto continuation of The Sarah Jane Adventures in many respects, but without Sarah Jane herself for obvious reasons. I'm delighted that Big Finish are being allowed to tap into the world of SJA; not so long ago, characters like Clyde and Rani were totally off-limits to them.

It wasn't officially confirmed at the time (although the pictures from the set looked pretty conclusive) but David Tennant and Catherine Tate have confirmed in their interviews today that the late Bernard Cribbins will appear in the 60th anniversary specials.
There was a rumour that some extra filming is taking place. Unconfirmed at this stage. Wonder if it's an extra scene for Bernard?
There is also a rumour about next year but I don't know how to do spoilers tags on here so don't think I can say.

Has there been any indication of whether Bernard's material for the 60th special(s) is complete? If not, I hope they can find a way to utilise as much of it as possible.
I believe they had finished filming but as I said it looks like they are now doing some extra filming.
Back in 2008 it was wonderful to see him become a hero to yet another generation of children, as Wilfred Mott.
It’s so fitting that he managed to squeeze in one last appearance as Wilf before the end. Just a shame he won’t see the finished product.
As a viewer you completely believed he was Donna’s granddad. He was incredible in everything he did.
And I didn’t even realise he was Buzby! Obvious now when I think back….

From what I have heard, Bernard Cribbins managed to get all his scenes filmed before his health took a turn for the worst. I heard he was rushed to hospital not long after filming.
Such a gentleman, I remember first seeing him in the 1964 Carry on Spying with Kenneth Williams, Jim Dales, Charles Hawtrey and Barbara Windsor. Great spoof of the James Bond films.

Even more of feat of acting when considering he was parrachuted into series 4 as Howard Attfield, who had played Donna's father, passed away during filming. He did film some of his scenes.
Thank you so much, RhysJR, for sharing that video.
I am a massive fan of Doctor Who - especially this era - and, while I knew about the hasty Howard Attfield / Bernard Cribbins recasting situation, I had never seen the original scenes shown in that video.
Fascinating to see. Many thanks.
