ITV Hub

It has been recently introduced on All4 as well. There were plans to expand the feature on Freeview beyond the BBC so hopefully this is a step in that direction.

The player size on desktop doesn't half make ITV Hub feel dated. It's tiny. It reminds me of the early days of video being more readily accessible online before the image quality improved.

What's the point in offering a 'watch the programme from the start' or 'restart the programme' option, when you're going to dump me back to live TV before the end?


While in this case the countdown ended during the credits, I've literally seen it happen in the middle of a programme (having said that, if I'd wanted to watch the London local news... tuff).

Had the iPlayer do that to me occasionally, especially of the subsequent programme has also finished.

It'll still let you wind it back though to where you were, right? That's not the case with the Hub. I've also had it happen when the next programme hasn't finished.

I’ve been bedbound the last couple of weeks so been watching the hub on my laptop and I’ve found watching something, then it crashes me out, usually just the best bit which is fine, I log off & go back in but then I can’t scroll to the part where it crashed which is annoying. As have to rewatch the whole thing again or miss out.

Where as IPlayer when that has its moments I can scroll to when it crashed out.

Anyone else have that issue, or know why ypu can’t scroll on the hub

That shouldn't be happening. If you get interrupted for any reason, you should be able to either continue where you left off or start from the beginning, not just the second option.

Because ITV paid for airtime on Channel 4.

Happens fairly frequently, even for specific programmes. I believe you just can’t mention an actual time/date on another channel.

It's mutual. There's been All4 ads on ITV Hub.

I assume that rule doesn't apply to streaming services, though they're less likely to be promoting the linear airing anyhow.

UKTV Play is advertised all the time on All4 too.  In a way I guess promoting the rival ad supported services promotes them as a whole.

I do remember one time on All 4 where the trailer for an ITV drama was promoted as being on ITV and ITV Hub. Just no times.
