Game Network (TV Channel)

Does anyone remember this? Used to be on Sky 223 at one point and if i remember correctly most of it's output was fed from it's HQ in Italy (until Babestation showed up which was fed from the UK). I do remember when the satellite that broadcast Game Network went into orbit and the programming side was lost for about a month so all we were left with was a ticker with gaming news and a chat box on the screen which you could text their number and your message would appear. The video window inside the overlay stayed black for so long they actually removed it!

I remember it very well, simply for how low budget it was. There were so many shows that were just gameplay footage with current pop songs that they obviously didn't have the licence for played over the top.

Game Guru began taking up more and more of the schedule as time went on. Basically Babestation but with a pixelated gamer instead of a galmour model in a much gloomier bedroom. It was famous for two things, forcing Sky One's Gamezville to change the name of their Games Guru segments to something even clunkier like 'Gaming with the Guru', and for launching the career of serial YouTube commentor Guru Larry.

I know Babestation took over its slot here in the UK then it bumped off into the adult section, but what happened to its feed from Italy then? Im not 100% sure but are the 2 games they used to own and run still around? I think they were MMORPGs but i forget the names of them.

No. I assume you mean The Legend of Mir 2/3 and Myth of Soma, but the servers were turned off in 2009. And the Italian feed of the channel closed in September 2005, five months before the channel relaunched as Babestation.

Was it really that long ago? I had it in my head it was more recent.... unless there's been another channel since doing similar.

Are you confusing it with the newly relaunched Comcast-owned G4? Or the somewhat-owned-by-Sky-but-not-really Ginx TV?
Also known as "Allanbuzzy" on other places.

Or the French, Paramount Global-owned Game One?
The description for Ginx TV made me crack up, to be honest, thank you.

I do have some faint memories of the Italian version of Game Network, I was so young when I would watch it on Hotbird.

I think it might be Ginx I'm thinking of, though I do have vague memories of Game Network too.
