Waterloo Road is to make a return to screens as one of the two new network drama series made in the regions, filming in Greater Manchester. Looking forward to seeing how they explain around the fact the last few years of the show were in Scotland unless they just write it off.

Well it be a totally different building anyway so they could easily say it’s a newly opened school with the same name set up a former student or staff member. I feel they more likely to use an ex student or two as a teacher if they want explicit links to the past than bringing back any of the past teachers.

Fantastic news. I thought this might be a solution for Holby going but thought that the BBC wouldn't want to revisit it. It seems to have rated well on iplayer over the last two years, as it was in the top watches regularly.
Unless the move to Manchester will be off screen only and assuming they don't want to forget the Scotland series completely, perhaps the school became successful whilst the show was off air and became an academy, so this is just a new school opening for the chain back in its home town?
Or just don't mention it has moved!

Hoping we get to see some of the original characters back, even though they moved onto shows like Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks.
Otherwise a new generation of bad boys and girls would be great. Also I think it'll be perfect to talk about taboo topics that relate to today's audience, like cancel culture and extremism.

Yes interesting to see the Press article in the first post mention that since it arrived one iPlayer in September 2019, it’s consistently been one of the top rating programmes amongst younger viewers.

Easy enough to work around. I don’t watch Hollyoaks, but a friend who does says she doesn’t think Katie’s role is a long term one, and if She is a success on Strictly, it gives the BBC a springboard for a relaunch of she is on board.
Either way, I doubt they’d be filming until next summer at the earliest

I do wonder how they explain the Scotland move, although if it’s like the old series, they’ll just start a new term and not reference what has come before like they used to do, where teachers would have left and never mentioned again
