The Brit Awards 2021 - DeMarkay - 11-05-2021 A thread to discuss The Brit Awards 2021. Graphics and stage design are amazing! Love the echo in The o2  . The Brit Awards 2021 - jonnie - 11-05-2021 The sound - at least when Dua Lipa was performing - was awful. Sounded like they’d stuck the CD on and asked her to sing along The Brit Awards 2021 - James Martin - 11-05-2021 I can't say I'm bothering with it. Over the last few years it seems that it's been hijacked by artists trying to score political points and make statements. I know it's been there on and off all the time but it's got worse in recent years. I've only just put it on and already had two things to feature like you mention, health care workers pay and hiv/aids. Both very worthy causes, but isn't this music awards, it's happening more and more with these types of shows/platforms. Artists now feel the need to have an agenda within their speech which I find such a turn off The Brit Awards 2021 - James Martin - 11-05-2021 tomo359 post_id=11992 time=1620763533 user_id=1280 Wrote:James Martin post_id=11990 time=1620762634 user_id=872 Wrote:I can't say I'm bothering with it. I know it's been there on and off all the time but it's got worse in recent years. I'm glad I didn't stick it on now. I have a real issue with this. It should be about the music. Have we not had a depressing enough time since the last Brits? Can't we just celebrate our rich music industry? Artists have Twitter as well as their own songs if they want to make political statements. Tonight should be about the music. The Brit Awards 2021 - Omnipresent - 11-05-2021 It's good to see the return of major events but I'm finding the non-alignment of the ITV and LIVE dogs quite irritating! The Brit Awards 2021 - DJGM1974 - 11-05-2021 So I've got it on now albeit on delay via my YouView box. Aside from the concern it being used for political soap-boxing and everything else, I can't help thinking ... That "live performance" (staged remotely) by The Weeknd wasn't live at all. It looked more like a highly produced and choreographed music video made especially for this event. I assume that was the intention anyway. The Brit Awards 2021 - bkman1990 - 11-05-2021 Well at least the swear words with the muted audio are back on form tonight after a long absence during this pandemic. I have to say there was a great amount of variety on stage given the breadth of the music being given out this year. I really have to give a huge hand to everyone who has organised this ceremony to be broadcast on ITV this year. It was not a easy task for anyone involved given the challenges of the past year. It would really be a huge achievement to see the Brit Awards to officially be declared Covid free for everyone after it's broadcast to get live music back to fans in the UK. The past year has seen so much physical & emotional turmoil with this global pandemic being brought to the brunt right all over us. Music fans all over the UK being seen to get back to some more trial events in the UK will see this as a big victory in seeing a return to some form of normality for them. It has huge benefits for the industry as a whole & I really think it should be encouraged further. I don't know what the consequences will be if there will be any Covid cases to be officially recorded by the NHS & UK Government after this ceremony. It would really be a huge shame to see that commitment of bringing back live music events fall apart right in front of the millions of music fans right across the UK if there was people caught sick with Covid after getting it from either people at this ceremony or not. I hope this night becomes a great success for them all. The Brit Awards 2021 - James Martin - 11-05-2021 I'm not sure how the Brits are working, but across the water at Eurovision next week you have to take a PCR test 5 days after attending the event and report the results to Fieldlab, who are conducting the research programme in the Netherlands. I assume the NHS/PHE are doing something similar here. Also, worth noting that in the USA, WWE hosted Wrestlemania with a capacity crowd, albeit in an open-air stadium. That's not something they're doing for their regular shows at this time but I certainly haven't heard any reports of it being the superspreader event many feared it would be. The Brit Awards 2021 - Fanoftv - 11-05-2021 I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The performances especially, whether pre recorded or live were incredible across the board and left me tingling. It was so nice to see such a big scale event take place again with a crowd, albeit a limited one. I very much liked the graphics and awards stage design, feeling very vibrant and different from recent years; it may be my memory failing me but isn’t this the first time in a while that we’ve had an awards set rather than just a stand in the middle of a stage? All in all a very good production. The Brit Awards 2021 - paul_hadley - 11-05-2021 I actually really enjoyed this tonight and a lot of the music on it for once. Great set design and imaginative thinking for those remote and outdoor performances. The HIV/AIDS mention was actually a link into a spectacular musical performance by Sir Elton John and Years & Years, with all proceeds from the track going to Elton's charity. But anyway, I thought it was a great, fun, high energy show and I wasn't offended by Little Mix pointing out that they were the first females to win Best Group and dedicating the award to the Spice Girls, Sugababes, All Saints and Girls Aloud who were criminally overlooked in the past. I thought the set was incredible, a great combination of a physical set and LED walls. Dua Lipa's performance in particular looked great. The audience at the Brits is important because it's part of the DCMS pilot of how to get full audiences back to venues without capacity caps or masks. The FA Cup final is also going to have crowds as well. The Brit Awards 2021 - Blobs - 11-05-2021 I didn't even know it was happening until I saw the usual Twitter bores complaining everything is woke and it's not as as good as it was when they were young. From the clips ive seen though I agree the set design looked excellent. The Brit Awards 2021 - Action Newsroom - 11-05-2021 Here in America, I was watching the international livestream on YouTube, and I was thoroughly entertained. The performances were excellent, the set design and graphics - along with this year's award design - were beautiful & breathtaking, the production was near perfect as usual and I got a very cheerful and eclectic vibe overall. I didn't mind the "political agenda" from the winners and thought their speeches and sweet shoutouts to the key workers were very nice. I was totally looking forward to this year's show and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Well done to everyone who played a part. |
