London Live News at Six - Londoner - 26-04-2021

News has returned to London Live after more than a year.

Slightly different set, but still with the same wooden table. No sign of the bricks.

An odd start at 6pm.

I'm surprised they didn't hang on a few more months instead of reintroducing a news service that nobody ever watched pre-Covid anyway.

Who is the presenter? I missed the very start but I didn't see him named.

The business wrap was illustrated with pics from Manchester showing Metrolink signage - very local...

I'm pretty sure that this bulletin is recorded and they've played the parts in the wrong order.

Edit - Part 3 with the headline recap is what they played out at 6pm instead of the first part of the show.

Ironically that's the best they got that studio to look in the last five years. No idea who the presenter is though.

They got round to promoting the 'news' on LL's Twitter on Tuesday.

I can’t believe this channel is still running - how’s it making any money? Is the newsroom still linked to the Standard?

It’s also remarkable that at a time when news is most crucial - in a major crisis - London Live scarpered.

Its odd I agree. What's the point of having 2 stations broadcasting local news at the same time? Far better in my opinion to have the station being reformatted to either a film or documentaries based channel.

It must make some money from ads and the archive content. That's the only time I watch it for the archive stuff.

Whilst it is absurd that the news clashes with the relatively popular versions on the BBC and ITV, if it gave up the last semblance of being a local station, it would lose its position in the EPG and move right down to the foot of the channel numbers on all platforms.

London Live News at Six - Brekkie - 28-04-2021

But it gave it up for a year. I can understand the more local channels pitching their news at the same time as a more local alternative to the regional news. It's a bit different in Londons case and I think a bulletin at 7pm or 8pm would be wiser, but then they might just think people won't watch them if they've already watched the BBC or ITV bulletin.

Is this connected in some way to the London Mayor elections next week? Are they doing special coverage or something?

I suspect when the results are announced on Saturday, London Live will probably be showing Confessions of a Window Cleaner or something equally downmarket from the 70s.

I’d actually vote for Robin Askwith, were he standing
