The PBU was installed a long while back when some live kit was installed in his house which I believe didn't work out.

The WMT app is made available to staff via mobile device management, but is essentially the same as the Mobile Viewpoint app on the AppStore. It bonds Wi-Fi and 4G , balancing the load across two paths and when it works well (modern phone and connection of about 5 Mbps) the picture quality is really good.

Katty was using a LiveU backpack (orange bag on the floor) which has approximately 6 sims and connects to Wi-Fi and/or Ethernet. 6 sims = more balance across networks and any drop-out on a particular network is handled by the remaining connections. These are often used on the move too.

I've seen a few correspondents use a "WMT App". I think the BBC do have an internal one but it's currently 'invite-only'.

There's "similar" apps for radio broadcast too.
It's pretty magic that they can send such good quality video and audio just via home broadband or 4G. No need for ISDN or "Music Circuits" from BT (for radio).

I don't think it's that remarkable, certainly for audio - ISDN is 64kbps, the modern 4G connection won't break a sweat to deliver that kind of speed.
