Interesting article and interesting angle: could Big Al be the saviour of GB News?

I hadn't realised it could be an issue, and fortunately I didn't have anything with me that had nuts in.

It does seem like Colin is exploring the reaction with an eye to finding outrage or descent.

It’s policy at my airline now with all nuts removed from the onboard bar and a clear process for passengers to inform of their allergy well in advance. This week alone I’ve had 3 such passengers.

As is now his modus operandi.

I used to respect him - now he’s the definition of a joke.

I have lost interest in GB News now - to be honest, I really do look back to the days of Kenneth Kendall, Richard Baker etc, where news was just a man or woman sitting behind a desk, telling us what happened today in the country and around the world - simple.

I don't want presenters giving us their opinion. Why should I care what Mark Dolan thinks about anything.

Yes, the TV world has changed, I understand that, but I have had my fill of opinion driven news channels. I just wish there was a place for just pure news, no bias, no opinion, just news.

If you want this, I'd say ITV News is your best bet.

TV does have to cater for more than just you though…

Agreed, but surely the issue with GB News and similar 'opinion' channels is viewers can confuse opinion with fact.
Added that 'news' is in GB News name potentially adds to that. I suspect that the use of a news ticker has kept them out of bother with the regulator.
With regards to Colin Brazier's tweet/links it's in particularly bad taste (no pun intended) in view of new legislation about food ingredients.
Personally I agree about opinion strands - as I've said before if I want that I can visit my local.

Talking of getting opinion from the local have all the regional reporters now gone then or did some survive the summer? Are they running much report wise?

They’re still there - but mainly doing filler pieces that belong in the middle pages of local newspapers:

Hanisha Sethi (East Mids) and Conchúr Dowds (Northern Ireland) left weeks after it launched. Ellie Costello (South East) and Paul Hawkins (London) are regular presenter cover. The rest are still there, but haven't watched enough of the channel to know when they're on.

GB News - AlfieMulcahy - 03-10-2021

Definitely still going. The reports from their Welsh Reporter and from Bradley Harris have been particularly good.

GB News - Jon - 03-10-2021

Bear Grylls Ray Mears is going to covering for Neil Oliver for the next couple of weeks.

GB News - Aaron - 03-10-2021

They’ve recently appointed replacement reporters for London and for East Midlands.

It comes across as if 1. he’s never heard of it before. Which I would find very strange. 2. He’s basically questioning if anyone with nut allergies should ever ever be allowed to do transatlantic travel without taking on a high risk of dying. Because that would be the logical outcome.

Of course he could be questioning whether there is actually a risk, but I certainly read it as the former.

Particularly bad timing too, on a day when a new law was introduced by the parents of a girl who lost her life on a plane due to suffering an allergic reaction to something she knew she was allergic too but didn’t realise was inside the product she consumed. Whilst I get the new law is covering labelling of foods packaged on site and Colin is talking about something slightly different here - banning allergenic ingredients completely, it seems far at odds from the mood of the nation, when if anything the general ‘tone’ of the news that day was broadly welcoming a change in the law which whilst won’t affect many people, could be life saving for others.
