Yes. It was unveiled in our wider BBC briefing this morning.

The visual identities look amazing. Especially BBC One and BBC Four.

Just as I said. The channel is changing tact, so it makes sense to have a new BBC Four. Even then, the idents would have changed if the BBC logo was being replaced. You know, re-reading parts of this, I actually went back to the BBC GEL Video that announced the arrival of the Reith Font from 2018 (3 years this year? Time does fly). I had to take a screenshot from the video, because I saw this:

If that image doesn't sum up why this logo is necessary, I don't know what will. Just so many different logos from different eras. BBC Worldwide in the 1997 style. BBC One with its 2006 logo, BBC Two with its 2007 logo, BBC Three with its 2017 logo, BBC Four with its 2002 logo. News, Sport, Weather, Music all in the 1997 style. Just a mess in my opinion.

The logo itself isn't actually improving anything

I think this is generally my stance - all the surrounding presentation I've seen is very nice, but I'm yet to see anything that couldn't be done with (and, in my view, look significantly better with) the current logo. It's a shame really because, in the absence of that logo, I would probably be very excited for this rebrand rather than mentally preparing myself for having to see that on a daily basis.
I am in the exact same league as you DTV the thing that for me completely ruins this rebrand....is the new logo, I am convinced that using the current logo that animation (and this rebrand as a whole) would be a trillion times better

Don't worry, you're not the only one that thinks that the 1997 style doesn't work anymore because it hadn't since the end of 2001, a new logo is necessary.

Blubatt With all due respect, I think that even with the new logo the BBC will end up with different logos from different eras, just like it happened back then it will happen again, believe me. And I am starting to think that just like in 2001-2002 execs at the BBC are going to say that the new logos have ''no personality'' I really think that there is a possibility that history might repeat itself

Tim Davie didn't do a presentation about the new branding/logo, it was primarily a progress report and look ahead. As I said there was a video showing some of the new branding, it mainly concerned new media such as sounds iplayer, news and sport, but a few glimpses of BBC One, Two and Four. But it wasn't presented as a rebrand, there was no context or explanation

No, I do agree with you. I think it will happen. But it does still need to happen.

And that's a shame. While I do like a graphical logo, I can see what MLN was trying to do in putting the personality into the idents. And I think that this is a great model for a television ident. I am a simple man with simple wants and simple tastes for a reason. An ident in my head, and feel free to disagree with me, should be a logo, something pretty or visually pleasing/creative, created anyway you want (live action, CGI, Claymation, Animation), with a suitable sonic logo too, usually something ambient enough to hear continuity over. MLN's idents from 1991, 1997, etc did that. BBC Two today is moving back to that, Channel 5 does it (with the logo, I might add).

Nice animation though. Reminiscent of the 1990s BBC video/family ident.

Love this little logo reveal sting! The motion and the morphing colour gradients are nice and very on trend currently whilst also being quite timeless too. Would've been great if there some sound that went along with it too.

Sonic identities are being made.

That’s what I like to hear! Can’t wait to see it all play out when it does eventually make it to our screens soon!

Now this sounds exciting! I wonder if BBC One will be getting its own sonic identity as they didn't have one since 2006 with the Circle idents.

Nice idea.

I wonder if they'll use that animated version for an animated BBC Studios logo...

Everything is still very, very vague at this point - who knows what they will and won't do when the time comes
