I guess. But that is todays 'news'. It is the biggest story around & will likely lead the bulletins we'll see over the rest of the day.

This probably goes back to the comment that's been said here before, but should GB News really have 'news' in the title?
I understand where you’re coming from, but I think for those (myself not included I might add) who don’t want wall to wall reshuffle coverage it’s good that they’re covering other news (which they are, alongside the debates).

Can you confirm what other news ( and I don’t mean endless comment on stories which are days old ) that GB news were covering this afternoon?

- A very fair amount on the reshuffle
- M25 protests
- COVID Winter Plan (including interview with Mark Harper MP)
- Universal Credit, inflation and multiple other business stories on 'On The Money'

To name a few. Obviously The Afternoon Agenda has taken up a chunk of it which generally focuses on a single topic ("We Need To Talk About..."), but has included those stories too.

And that is where there is now a divide. Nearly all their recently hired presenters are political obsessives who would likely love to talk about reshuffles all day.

GB News - London Lite - 15-09-2021

Reshuffles should be part of GB News's output this afternoon, they could easily put a spin on some of the people who have gone into government today which would have been beneficial to their target audience.

The problem with what they put out instead as an alternative, such as benefits and the like which may be enough to get their audience to react when there isn't a reshuffle going on isn't the same as Nadine Dorries being made Culture Secretary.

I'd be interested to see what happens with McCoy if he does leave, as he obviously won't be going back to the BBC but he seems like such a talent to waste not being on air. I think he is probably in the better place on GBN, because the Breakfast show is as far away from any of the what-ever-winged evening programmes & Kirsty isn't exactly politically aligned like Alex is.

Also crazy money being banded around for Piers Morgan. Going off the latest Popbitch email, it looks like News UK have signed Piers in some sort of tie in to a TV/talkRADIO situation. But I cannot see him signing for that if it is online only, so maybe they're going to stream roll right over GB News...

I was a big fan of McCoy before he left his helm at The BBC. He was well liked here, internally, and by us viewers. I doubt very much they'd have him back. Those who went to GBN are all tarnished. It'll be very difficult for Simon to find a home elsewhere after this utter disaster.

he couyld go back to bbc, just not the news channel but present bbc world instead

Ah yes, the M25 protests that GBN falsely claimed caused a major pile up:

I don’t think this was just GB News - I think (though may be wrong) it was various news outlets who made a mistake. People are human - mistakes happens.

It was a natural assumption. The trouble with journalism nowadays, and this goes way beyond GB News, is assumption isn't followed by verification before publication.

Couldn't agree more - you can understand why they make the assumptions but the stories just need more thought and verification before they're published.

GB News - thomalex - 16-09-2021

Given Murdoch is now entering with a rival channel it's probably time to pack up already. Neil clearly got wind of this and is what pushed him to get out.

Mind you, Sky News has got previous for all of this, too - 'Never Wrong for Long', as it's supposedly referred to in the industry.

Quite a gear change from Dan Wootton doing a two way with Megan Kelly bitching about Meghan Markle and Naomi Osaka to then do an interview with Peter Shilton and his wife about his former gambling addiction which to be fair was pretty good and for once Dan listened and emphasised.

To be fair, I don't think he has publicly criticized the channel's agenda, unless I've missed it, he has said it is down to him reducing his work commitments. Now what he says in private I'm not privy to ...
I think I can now scrub my comment Wink
