Not gonna deny that Farage is competent on air, but the same could be said about Colin Brazier and Simon McCoy. It's all well and good securing the "talent", but if you don't have the material or the team behind them, then Farage will be just as dull as every other show.

Thanks to the Farage video, I can now confirm my theory in the Launch thread regarding the technical setup.
  • There is only one gallery.
I believe there may actually be a second gallery, which you can see at the very start of Farage’s clip as he walks in from the entrance? There certainly appears to be another technical room with multiviewers and the like, with the solid wall on the “opposite” side of the gallery we see later.

Ah yes, because @TobyAmd45121189 is obviously the most trustworthy source in the business!

GB News - Jon - 18-07-2021

Quite a lively debate about GB News on 5 Live (which has just finished) featuring regular contributor Calvin Robinson. If anyone wants to listen back to that. Livelier than most of the debates actually on GB News ironically.

GB News - JasonJones01 - 19-07-2021

On the farage video at 1:18 is that a green screen/virtual area? also the building/office looks much bigger than you expect

I think some reporters have a camera operator with them. Rosie Wright has had one since day one I believe and one of the regional reporters once shared a photo on Twitter of herself and her camera operator working together.

You do have to hope though that they won't just plagiarize someone else's work like the headlines they started doing (have they stopped doing the headlines already?)

GB News - Markymark - 19-07-2021

While you were all busy watching GB News last night, the new series of BBC 1's drama Baptiste featured a press conference, with a branded microphone labelled 'GB News'! Big Grin

Ah, maybe you're right. Didn't spot that first time. Weird how the empty one has a large transparent window into the "live area" (which has no technical equipment that I can see, assume it's journalists working on editing/organising/producing) and the one Farage went into, that was actually on air, doesn't have line of sight with that area.

Quite heated, wasn't it? Have to say Calvin came across much better than the anti GB News woman, who had just taken the spate of negative press articles for her research.

She even mentioned Welsh Paw Patrol!!

BBC News has their gallery opposite side of building so not direct of sight either

Yes, I am familiar with the BBC setup ☺

It's just weird that if there are two galleries side by side, they're not built in the same way with the same windows/doors. If they're in the same place and performing the same function, why not make them identical?

I read somewhere that he is planning in suing them. Probably has a good case, especially with his claims he ran it by the producers first.

The other room is probably just for the technical side of things like setting up the zoom and skype calls thru to doing the lighting and cameras etc. I can't imagine everything is being done in just one room as setting up external sources involves a lot of noise that could be distracting to an on-air scenario.
