Yeah, he certainly wasn’t on screen as far as I know, but he was there for the launch. And the way it’s always been explained to me was, that things didn’t go to well and he didn’t last long at Sky….

I think with any channel, and indeed any business, there is actually a huge difference between launching it and running it day to day and often it can require a different skill set. Arguably launching it is the easier bit as long as you get the initial finance in place as so much is theoretical - you hire these people to do this, that and t'other and say as a result you'll achieve your profited targets within this time frame - but then when you start running it day to day you have the reality of running a business not necessarily being as easy as it is in theory and having to deal with both the external and internal pressures from the people involved.

I don't quite get the logic in the three half hour editions, all relatively close to each other. Would probably make more sense to focus on an hour long edition, and considering their target audience it makes alot of sense to offer a packaged political news programme as an alternative to Politics Live and All Out Politics.

Had a look at GBN’s ratings for the first time in a while - here are yesterday’s figures for daytime:
0600 - Great British Breakfast - 13k
0900 - To The Point - 2k (not a typo - most of the second half of the show rated 0)
1200 - DiPiero and Halligan - 12k
1600 - The Afternoon Agenda - 17k
For some up-to-date context, GBN has fewer viewers in pretty much all those slots than, say, Yesterday which was showing very old repeats of Antiques Roadshow, and Quest.
In the evening, Farage just about beat Sky News but had half the audience of the BBC NC - and Dan Wootton was flattened by both of them.
I also see the problem of having the same merry-go-round of right-wing guests on both GBN and talkRADIO continues - with regular talking head Calvin Robinson covering shows on Talk this week.

2k for To the Point! It shows that you can't just get any random talkRADIO host and expect the ratings to go up. The other theory I have is that Mercy Muroki is such a turn off for viewers that they've deserted the mid-mornings, or they'd rather watch hosts with journalism experience of which neither Christys or Muroki have.

I have turned over to watch a bit of Mark Dolan, and it seems the camera angle was locked on to the wide shot of the guests, but leaving that aside, the content is garbage, talking about something on recycling which has to be the most boring subject for a Friday night to discuss.

Nana was a much better watch on a Friday night. Such a wrong move to remove her from the slot.

Dolan’s monologues are doing very well though on YouTube. He’s one of the more natural ones at doing US opinion news channel style formats.
