GB News - Brekkie - 10-08-2021 So the UN spent probably millions getting the worlds greatest scientists to compile their latest report on the threat of climate change to the planet, as we see evidence all around us of the consequences in action. But no, Dan Wootton thinks this is all "hysterical" and "scaremongering" and is given a platform to debunk it absolutely unchallenged. This isn't news or even views - this is deliberate misinformation, and it's shameful that Discovery are partly funding it and even more concerning that OFCOM are turning a blind eye to it. GB News - James2001 - 10-08-2021 It's "difference of opinion" and "freedom of speech" apparently ? Nigel Farage perhaps but I mean Michelle and Colin? And all three at the same time for one segment, it’s beyond a joke. Can you imagine Sarah-Jane Mee doing a debate on Sky and going we’ve got “Sophy Ridge, Dermot Murnaghan and Kay Burley to discuss this” GB News - Brekkie - 10-08-2021 Maybe they just want to show off they have four working cameras. GB News - AllWillBeWell - 10-08-2021 Brekkie post_id=33463 time=1628588041 user_id=976 Wrote:So the UN spent probably millions getting the worlds greatest scientists to compile their latest report on the threat of climate change to the planet, as we see evidence all around us of the consequences in action. Lots of companies fund lots of things, It is the choice of Discovery what they fund, clearly at the time of commitment they recognised a need to fund the channel, whatever their reasons may be. It was pretty clear even before the channel launched what it would be about. Alternative views. Alternative views by the nature of them will upset some people. Some people don't agree with climate change, it doesn't matter if we agree or not. There is a right for the view to be aired. People have to be allowed to make their own mind up. Ofcom are not turning a blind eye, to make the accusation is bizarre. The code is there and this dictates what is a breech of the code. People keep going hysterical about the channel and expect things to happen just because they don't like the output. That isn't how it works. If it did ever work like that, then we have entered a new era, and not a good one. The whole point of the code is to ensure it allows free speech even if it upsets millions of people who don't agree. Also consider that if they are investigating something, it can take time. They do not act on a whim based on some kind of ideology pursuit. There has to be something real to progress. Edit: to add I have watched the clip, the opening makes clear the opintion of the UN and government. The presenter also states it is important to make changes. It appears to be balanced enough to me, I could not class is as disinformation. Didn't he have a scientist on later in the clash? Farage had a scientist who contributed to the report if I recall. I saw a short section of 'Farage' last night and you're right, he did, and, while he gave his alternative opinion on the story, he conceded that he wasn't denying what the scientist was saying was true. From what I could tell, Nigel's main gripe was with the emotive/'scaremongering' language/wording used, rather than questioning the actual science/specifics. Irrespective of the specifics of climate change and the extent of the threat it poses - this really isn't the place for that discussion - I would say that what I saw was certainly no more objectionable than anything you'd get on, say, Sky News. The little I saw was all perfectly amicable and respectful, despite the difference of opinion, as all good debates should be. Of course GB News as guilty as anyone of that and I'm probably as guilty as anyone for falling for it. GB News - TVViewer256 - 10-08-2021 Craigwills post_id=33469 time= user_id=1261 Wrote:I think that's a bit unfair in these circumstances - it was at the end of the show and all three presenters were in the building, so why not get their views? Throughout the show they had plenty of external guests chatting about it - it's a bit like the first 30 minutes or so of GMB (in Piers's day).thecorrector post_id=33378 time= user_id=1692 Wrote:Back to full-on parody territory here; regardless of your political persuasion, no-one - and I mean no-one - wants to hear Nigel Farage musing on porn: GB News - Jon - 10-08-2021 I see Mercy is continuing to improve and seems to work well with her new co-host and the new seating arrangement. Not sure how long each programme will be, or where 'To the point' will be moving to. GB News - Ash101 - 10-08-2021 I'm guessing by the 15:30 start time of the afternoon addition, that they'll only be half an hour each? I guess this will bring Gloria & Liam's main show back down to 3 hours... GB News - London Lite - 10-08-2021 No surprise that Tom Harwood is getting his own show although I still think he needs to master his delivery. With Mercy's airtime reduced to two hours, it may help her to master her presenting ability by being on for less and Patrick seems a more supportive co-presenter to her compared to the old pros, even if he does most of the talking. I'd assume these new shows will all come from the desk set, reducing the soft area use to 1-3.30pm during De Piero and Halligan and then for Dewbs and Tonight Live in the evening.
