If they are going to be new idents this Christmas as usual then you would assume they'll be in the new style and likely have already been produced.

Because the current batch are (pardon my French) a heap of bollocks. People standing around is not a television ident. And now that the Oneness brand has been retired the idents have lost their meaning.

You're right, it was. On a a slight tangent, when is the best time to put your christmas decorations up? I feel like TV puts them up earlier every year. Shouldn't it be at least 2 weeks before the big day?

The Christmas ads are creeping in now - John Lewis is being released tomorrow I believe. Of course in recent years the BBC presentation has been more about an advert of their own with idents almost secondary to that. That's why I don't believe the BBC had to quietly and nervously step into a rebrand - they're happy to blow their own trumpet at Christmas.

They've re-edited it to remove reference to halloween (one scene involved trick or treaters being given mince pied by people fully decked out in christmas gear)

I think it was mainly 2016, 2017 and 2018 that had John Lewis style ads that had idents centred around the ads. Of course 2015 was Sprout Boy, but 2016 and 2018 were both quite commercial looking with Oneness and the Wonderland themes. I hope we don't get a repeat of 2018's. They were dull.
