Not a fan of either soap (Coronation Street/Emmerdale) but after flicking through the TV mag yesterday, I noticed that ITV2 have dropped the current repeats of aforementioned soaps after 20+ years. And the Corrie omnibus has moved to ITV2.

Wetherfield High School looks suspiciously like it's in the middle of MediaCity...
At least it's something other than the Corrie studio building which has doubled as about 4 different places over the last few years.

Whenever we see Weatherfield High it’s the Oasis Academy on King William Street, Salford, about 5 minutes away from MediaCity. Before that they used the school’s former building, the old Hope High School on Prestwood Road.

It’s amazing how all the buildings in Weatherfield are all built in the same distinctive style!

Classic Corrie: has anyone else noticed how whenever there's background music - say in The Rovers, Audrey's salon, Roys Rolls - it always seems to be Steps playing?
Can't say I noticed it much first time round, even though I was a bit of a fan back in the day....

Ive noticed a wide range of different music played in the background not just Steps.

Surprised is isn't just generic non-commericial music to be honest. Suspect that's what the international airings got.
Did watch the Millennium episode earlier - quite surprising how many of the characters are still central to the show.

There will be even more of the current characters arriving in Classic Corrie soon with Maria, Eileen, Todd, Kirk and Fiz all joining in 2000/2001.

No more split 7:30pm / 8:30pm episodes.
As of March, new scheduling will have Coronation Street airing in a consistent 8pm until 9pm hourlong slot on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, as per the below link...

I welcome the change to the structure as the 30 minute gap didn't benefit the viewer at all, but it will feel weird for Corrie not to be at 7.30pm anymore.

It's quite comical reading some of the online comments from disgruntled people who have entirely misunderstood the changes.
Rather than it simply being a case of bringing the two pre-existing 30-minute sections together into one single 60-minute block, a handful of people seem to have read it as 'anything that was previously 30 minutes long will henceforth be made 60 minutes long' so there's a decent number of comments on social media along the lines of "oh for goodness sake, and I thought the storylines were drawn out ALREADY!!!" :lol:

It wont alter the way I watch Corrie as I tend to record the episodes and watch them a bit later to avoid the 30 minute gap and the advert breaks.
A big change however - the first time Corrie hasnt regularly been at 7.30pm (putting aside temporary changes for Sport and BGT etc) since 1961!
I was amused reading the comments from people complaining about Emmerdale and Corrie moving - people don't seem to realise its only being moved half an hour later and no gap at 8pm! You would think they had dropped half the episodes going by the complaints !

It makes sense and as Jez and others have said episodes are better structured as a single hour. In many ways Corrie airing 3 times a week for an hour than six times a week for half an hour feels less too - just hope it doesn't soon become 4 and then 5 hours a week.
