Birdsong over the 'Starts at 7pm' caption tonight.
Noticed that there is a revised closedown/startup slide as well.

Looks better and cleaner than initial version.

Looks more suitable for a Night Time feed - the previous one was more fitting for daytime

A BBC Three daytime feed? What would that be on? iPlayer?

I wouldn't want to see a total 'ban' on sport of BBC4. Aside from older skewing sport, there are the odd occasions when there could easily be sport on BBC3 and BBC4 at the same time. I'm sure last year one night had Wimbledon on BBC2 (and red button) and Women's Football on BBC4, with Diamond League Athletics on the BBC Sport website only. No need for the Athletics to be demoted like that with BBC3 available.

BBC Three - ConorM98 - 12-01-2022

Looks more like the usual BBC gradient style.
The fuzzier one they had before would've been great for an endboard in promos.

"Now on BBC Three, we go to a fake MHEG. What's that? Oh sorry. I meant back-to-back Top Gear."

Bare in mind BBC Four is set to become an archive programming only channel in the not too distant future. It's original programming will most likely move to BBC Two, which I believe is set to be refocused slightly once BBC Three returns.

Well I think BBC4 has pretty much already made that transfer with comedy on Tuesdays, film on Thursdays etc.

If I've got my dates right I guess we'll get the first schedules next Wednesday for 1st-4th Feb, though it might not be quite a fair reflection of what's to come with two Africa Cup of Nations games in the 7pm slot, and I'd guess they might just stick repeats in the 9pm hour should the games go to extra time.

I thought it had become an archive channel already with fewer new programmes and more repeats.

Yes, it was always going to be a gradual transition towards being predominantly archive-based, and we do appear to have reached that stage with practically no original programming left on the channel now. It was never going to suddenly relaunch one day as UK Gold, and nor will it be 100% archive either - acquired programming such as the Saturday Euro-drama slot is continuing, The Sky at Night still has a home there, and the Proms will remain as well, so there is certainly scope for other live coverage of sport and music to continue to feature.

And trying to steer the conversation back towards the topic title, it will be interesting to see how much of the live music does goes back to BBC Three - aside from Eurovision semi-finals already mentioned, there is also the festivals - I'm not sure if Glastonbury is happening this year, but BBC Four has taken on the bulk of the coverage in recent years - maybe they will share coverage between them.

http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/reports/consultation/bbcthreepit/bbc-three-pit-full-debrief.pdf - linked back on Page 5, shows some of the things they want to put on BBC Three. Glastonbury is there under music (as is Live Lounge).

Bellator MMA is shown for sport (recent UK events have had BBC iPlayer branding in the octogon). I could potentially see NFL moving there, Channel 5 got ad free Monday Night Football (shared with Sky) so I could see Thursday or Sunday airing filling a overnight timeslot if the league wants to continue to try and grow here - the recent NFL show promos have been more youth focussed.

BBC Four is already that isn't it? It doesn't have any original programming on it.

Bare in mind that when they said it was to be archive based that didn't mean it will just show old episodes of programmes. It's always had a lot of archive content in programmes like Timeshift.

Also there's no reason why it wouldn't show sport or live events like The Proms where they're happening anyway and just need a slot to go in

I know everyone uses the TV guide anyway - but it’s a little odd that in all these news articles about the channel launch, nobody is mentioning a channel number? I would think that is a vital thing to start putting in peoples brains ahead of launch… That part has been confirmed hasn’t it?

Nope, there have been some educated guesses but the EPG numbers haven't been announced yet. The BBC press release even makes the point of mentioning this.

Wouldn't it just be the same as CBBC's?
