I don’t understand why McCoy is moving to breakfast. That’s not solving the problem there it’s just adding to it. McCoy should be on 9-12 or 12-3 with someone is is actually competent and experienced. Breakfast doesn’t work because of Kirsty. It’s as simple as that.

Maybe he asked the management if he could do early mornings instead? A lot of staff at companies prefer to work early for a variety of personal or practical reasons that may not necessarily be related to problems within the company.
Or maybe they wanted a more established newsreader in the early mornings if they are going to start doing proper news 'round-ups' (ie. not just copying the BBC News website word-for-word onto their teleprompter)?

It’s probably more to do with the GB News bosses seeing GMB haemorrhaging viewers and thinking they could absorb some of them with a higher profile offering at breakfast. Have to agree that Simon and Alex would have been great- a definite Piers & Susanna vibe.

Surely, that is the problem though.
GBN was billed as an alternative to the existing news channels. To run a newsroom is very expensive unless you use cub reporters from uni just copy and pasting from wires with no double or triple checking the sources are factually accurate.
Most newsrooms have PA/wires type services - if that's what they have it will be no different to the existing broadcasters. They need reporters out in the regions to have any clout and then even local BBC and ITV will outnumber them 100-1.
GB News is an alternative to the rolling news channels. Quite good to have long form discussions as an alternative to the same news stories repeated every half hour.
I agree it's good to have longer discussion, but to be honest when I've tuned all the guests agree with one another and the presenter - which seems pretty pointless to me. Dolan tonight was speaking to Lord Jones about his criticism of Alex Scott and let him ramble on uninterrupted and offered no counter view so it was hardly a balanced item. That sort of approach can get 'news' channels in bother with the regulator. If GBN wants to be around the news slots on the EPG, it will have to change it's approach - certainly when a general election comes around IMHO.

There's no question that they'll have to sort themselves out before an election, there are lots of rules that kick in as soon as one is called. They can't be their usual amateur hour then

I see that Sky News Australia have been given a one week suspension by YouTube - this happened with another Rupert Murdoch owned station talkRADIO back in January here in the UK.
GB News should probably look at this example, otherwise they could be next as they rely on YouTube for a lot of their audience.

Does anyone else find the sound on this channel extremely bad?
Watching in HD on channel 515, the studio presenters are so loud (louder than any other channel), then the adverts come on a lot quieter.
On the few occasions that I do 'tune in', I have to turn the volume right down compared to other channels.

Of course that's if GBN lasts that long.
It would be fascinating to know what investors were told before they handed over their money.
A couple of things struck me about this setup.
Firstly when TVam began they made major changes after a few months and went down lowest common denominator route - even reading out The Sun bingo numbers.
Secondly when Capital radio started in the 70's they wanted to do US FM type shows but had to rapidly change because the audience was not ready for it plus the 3-day week nearly broke them - but a brilliant Prog Controller got it sorted.

GB News - RR - 01-08-2021
GB News did issue a press release in June stating that they intended to launch on DAB "as early as next month" (i.e. July). Now we are in August has there been any further on this? "As early as" was a strange turn of phrase, and clearly different from promising to launch in July.
