I'm sure it will all look better on-screen during the actual episodes with the camerawork, lighting and post-production.

I think the whole week sounds preposterous, but they just have to keep doing bigger and bigger. So we have Coronation Street about to disappear down a sinkhole. :roll:

These days you could probably fix most such occurences with a few clicks of a mouse in the edit suite.

Has anyone noticed A Touch of Frost on the episode, No Refuge yesterday? Before yesterday, the picture looked dull and grainy but when I watched it, the picture looked clearer and it was more like 16:9. The ITV3 dog was situated at the far top left of the picture. It's a great restoration.

I agree. I wish they would stop these ridiculous 'super soap weeks' with big stunts and just focus on the storylines and characters.

I am actually quite enjoying Corrie at the moment and that's mainly due to the better characters being at the forefront of the show at the moment rather than any stunts planned. I will reserve judgement on the actual 'special week' once I've seen it.

Regarding Emily Bishop, Eileen Derbyshire was said to be taking a six month break from the show but aside from that one off appearance for Ken's 80th she hasn't returned and I think its safe to say she has retired. So many in the past have had to be written out without a proper exit due to the actors being too ill to return so its nice that Emily did get some sort of exit.

Unfortunately not everyone agrees, and whereas some like the character driven light whimsy we’ve had recently (Audrey needing glasses etc), to others it’s ‘boring nothing has happened’

They’ll never solve this, which is why they do both

I don't really think it helps with Emmerdale and Corrie both having their big stunt week at the same time, with both currently running adverts on ITV basically with the theme "people will die". It might make sense around BGT for them both to do something but I think in the autumn a bit of breathing space for them both would be good.

The opening titles were 'smoothed' again, tonight. It seems to line up with episodes which are stylistically out of the norm? No idea.

Looks just as iffy as last time they did it as well- surely if they wanted to smooth it they could do a much better job?

Some very moody colour grading in the episode itself as well, definitely stylisticly out of the norm as you said. And 4 credited directors as well, shows what an undertaking it must have been.

I thought the colour grading was just a (very unconvincing) attempt to make what was clearly a bright, sunny day look like they were in the middle of a thunderstorm. The 25fps overlaid rain effects did little to help.

I thought tonight’s episodes were pretty poor. It all felt like corny am-dram with some laughably poor ‘special’ effects.

I think Debbie Webster made some kind of ‘oh fiddledebob we need to launch early so we can get some early publicity in the press’ type line to explain it away.

I have to say I never know :? :? soo much thunder rattling around none stop… just seemed a lot going on and I didn’t get how Keven got to the crash before the police n ambulance, maybe because there was so much going on I missed that he may of just be going that way and came across it, maybe I’ll just have to re watch it when I’m not so sleepy
