Any reason why BBC Scotland DOG is smaller than BBC Alba and BBC Four? Is it just because Scotland has more characters so needs to be smaller?

I don't think that the trailer endboards work particularly well, to be honest - as the channel identifier is sortof hanging around at the bottom of the screen without BBC next to it. I think this looks quite confusing at first glance, to be honest:

I quite like it tbh well it makes sense what they done there.

That just looks like they're answering their own question - "Who owns Scotland? SCOTLAND".


P.S. Replace Scotland for ONE, remove the other text and we have ourselves an ident!

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. There will be many programmes on the BBC Scotland channel with 'Scotland' in their name, so the repetition with the channel name at the bottom is just a little odd. It could be resolved with a simple colour change perhaps so BBC and SCOTLAND are not white like the programme title and time, but as it stands - it just looks a bit odd.

(and I say that as someone who wasn't a fan of the old BBC Scotland endboards with all the channel numbers etc written on it!)

also I do like this specific ident because the BBC logo on top along with the rock sides and the channel identifier on the bottom make the logo feel boxed in.

Pretty much. Possibly, the letters shrink to the height of the new logo is there is more than five letters. To accommodate the long name.

I assumed the BBC SCOTLAND logo being a Nation/Region logo, is using that format, rather than the channel format.

BBC ALBA with it's saltire icon uses the channel style

I think it's fair to say that style guide has probably been abandoned now.

BBC Scotland (the division) will probably end up having a different logo to the one we now see for BBC Scotland (the channel).
