ITV technical problems - Inspector Sands - 11-10-2021 Richard post_id=46163 time= user_id=838 Wrote:Out of interest, what is the benefit to ITV from having “Northern” regions coming from Leeds? Given it’s national continuity wouldn’t it be easier to completely centralise things? As Brekkie says, it's more resilient to have two places doing it. So in yesterday's case one had a problem and the other in London took over what it normally outputs. If the problem was in London then Leeds would have done the same. The BBC has a similar setup. It's not something that was that easy to do in the past, it's only now that everything's digital and storage and connectivity is cheap that things can be mirrored elsewhere. I think Central comes from Leeds too it’s good to know the itv regions name are alive and kicking in the background. LWT, Carlton, HTV and Grampian are the only regional brands to have been completely obliterated. Yes, I think it was. After Ridge Hill was retuned back to Central West, and an additional frequency added for it to carry HTV West. While viewing an SD channel, you can try looking for the picture size / picture scaling / zoom option called something like "Just Scan", "Just Fit", "Exact Fit", "Full", "100%" or similar. Some TVs will have a separate option like "16:9 Overscan" or "Overscan" which you may be able to turn off. On our Samsung MU series, we have to use the Sky box to upscale SD channels to 1080i otherwise they're always overscanned with no option to disable. Its integrated DVB-T2 tuner does the same thing. |
