I can’t think of any other examples similar to this?

Slightly off topic, but I just want to thank you so much for sharing that. I was gutted that I didn't get any TV captures of that day, so I'm quite excited to look back at the clips on that channel.

I think one of the other local TV channels carried the local radio station's football phone in for a while.

I assume that some of the studios at Golden Square aren't that spacious as there's a lot of them in that small building, and it's not a dedicated GHR studio.

I believe that any GHR programming from London isn't coming from Golden Square, instead it's coming from Bauer's building in Camden - which I believe until recently didn't really have any radio stations in it? So probably explains why they're not looking very aesthetically pleasing. Although, if they're just mocking up an opening video, you'd think they'd have used one of Absolute/KISS/Magic's studios which do look better in video.

Speaking of local TV, I believe KMTV still airs the music breakfast show of KMFM.

Yep - in the late 90s, which was ground-breaking stuff at the time.

Regarding Greatest Hits Radio, its main base is in Manchester so I think Simon Mayo is using the small London studio that Mark Goodier has been using for his mid-morning show since the station launched. I read that this is actually in Camden rather than Golden Square.

However, with Greatest Hits becoming a much bigger station in the last year and with 6 hours a day now coming from London - including probably the most high-profile show on any Bauer station - it might become eligible for fancier accommodation in the capital.

After Channel M in Manchester axed the majority of its local output, including Channel M Breakfast, they chose to simulcast Real Radio NW at breakfast to fill the slot. However, they didn’t have a camera in the radio studio, the pictures were coming from (I presume Highways England) Traffic Cameras within the Manchester area. I don’t think that had been done before, or since for that matter.

The geek in me has always loved seeing radio studios on TV. For me it was/is the Radio 1 studios. Part of it comes from seeing them operate the studio, part of it comes from seeing the face deliver the words, especially if you heard it on radio the first time around. With the Global et al. stuff you don't see too much of the former – but it's great to be able to laugh along (or get really sad/angry!) with short clips on social media. I think those really have a place.

I always remember being abroad somewhere in Europe when I was younger, and there was an (I think) Italian TV channel that was a simulcast with a radio station - they would play the music videos of the relevant song and then cut to the studio for the links. It worked really well and fascinated me. I can't remember what it was called though!

I have another example in France the breakfast programmes of France Bleu (which is France's version of BBC Local Radio) are being simulcast on the regional France 3 TV channel for the region that they serve, this decision was made due to budget cuts https://www.francebleu.fr/infos/economie-social/les-44-matinales-de-france-bleu-diffusees-sur-france-3-1557486766

Chris reminisced about this on his Radio X show a couple of weeks ago. I watched it back recently whilst recovering from Covid. It was an absolutely remarkable feat of engineering, and the behind the scenes bits where they visited the satellite trucks were fantastic!

It's quite an impressive set up. Music videos are played during songs, with slowly sweeping shots of the studio when the presenters are talking.
In fact Italy seems to be the only country where visual radio channels have really taken hold. Now not only RTL 102.5 but also all the other major stations have visual radio channels of their own, Other than RTL 102,5, that station's spinoffs Radiofreccia and Radio Zeta are also full blown visual radio channels, then Mediaset did the same with it's radio stations (Radio 105 TV, R101 TV, Radio Monte Carlo TV, Virgin Radio TV) Then Deejay Radio and it's spinoff stations (Deejay TV, Radio Capital TV, M2O TV), other big stations as well (RDS TV, Radio Italia TV, Radio Kiss Kiss TV) In fact visual radio is so popular down there, that even the country's public broadcaster Rai has created a visual radio station, specifically for their station Rai Radio 2

Mind you, whenever I've listened to Chris Moyles on X (admittedly not too often) he's reminiscing about Radio 1.

Many national stations in the Netherlands have live streams for all links and news. A Dutch friend told me about this, but I'm not sure if any is simulcast on TV or just for web and app audiences.

Some stations go to an incredible amount of effort to show the music videos complete with and captions/animations when songs are playing, some have custom videos to match their jingles etc. Others just play a loop/slideshow of news and schedule information, and others just leave the cams running so you see the presenters chatting and checking their phones.

Some caps from just the last half hour or so (in spoiler tag to save clogging up the thread):

I'm surprised how extensive this is given it's pretty much just Talk Radio that stream all the time here.
