Today marks 7 years for when STV News brought in their current guise albeit with a couple of presentation changes throughout the years.
I'm right in saying that this is the longest period that STV News has gone without have a complete revamp.

On the intro to Scotland Tonight, it appears they recorded it at a lower bitrate as the PQ looked appalling, but as soon as Scotland Tonight returned after the news, the PQ was fine.

I would like to see STV News keep the double headed presentation but get rid of the weird split opt between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The long pause on the opening titles always looks and feels like a mistake. I would love to see STV News with two presenters in one studio. In the days of social media, i'm not sure how the half n half programme can be justified. I'm sure there are only 3 or 4 local stories included within the half hour programme. Is it worth it for that? I don't think so.

Or just bring back the sub-opt bulletins for West/East as was the previous arrangement.

A reminder that for a while STV did separate evening news programmes for:
- Glasgow and the West of Scotland,
- Edinburgh and East Central Scotland, plus
- Aberdeen (with a sub-opt for Dundee within the Aberdeen programme).
I stumbled across an old link to a 'Behind the Scenes' video they did in 2016. The programme being broadcast in the video is Wednesday, 2nd March 2016:

They later changed to a half-and-half Central Scotland programme presented between Glasgow & Edinburgh (in 2019?) and left Aberdeen as it is. These changes were part of quite a big cut to news staff made by the incoming chief executive, Simon Pitts.

Maybe one thing STV Central could learn from ITV is to pre-record one of the sub-opt bulletins at 5pm to keep the news as current as possible.

Way, way back in days long ago (late 80’s), the old Scotland Today was also split between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Normally, Mike Gower was in Glasgow and Nick Radcliffe or Michael Mulford in Edinburgh. Not opts. Just alternating stories presented from Glasgow and Edinburgh for the first 10-15 minutes of the programme and following the main intro from the lead presenters (Sheena/Haig).
Afterwards, they would return to Glasgow for the final 15mins of the programme, where Sheena MacDonald and Haig Gordon would present the remainder of the programme from a sofa area.

STV's lunchtime bulletin in the Central region was from Hampden Park. I wouldn't be surprised if it went out on STV North as well as it was all about the football.

Were they inside or outside the stadium? With ITV/STV being rights holder but the BBC showing that match wondering how much access they're permitted for a live broadcast.
