GB News - Brekkie - 24-02-2022 Current events will somewhat dictate that for now at least as no doubt people will gravitate to the BBC and Sky for updates now so GB News need to find a way to try and compete and differentiate without the international resources. GB News - thePineapple - 24-02-2022 I think a problem with the channel at the moment is that it doesn't actually tell you the news, really. You would go there for opinions, chat shows with opinions, and(somewhat one sided) debates. These are all valid things, but to understand them you need to understand the news at the time. What I'm trying to say is that GB News does not work as a standalone news source, you can't watch these debates without getting the news from someone else as well. I'm not sure that's a good business model. On the earlier point about whether it's a news channel or not, I'd argue that it isn't - it has the same number of bulletins as ITV news have today, to cover the Ukraine crisis. No one's arguing ITV are a News channel for one day ... GB News - Brekkie - 24-02-2022 The trouble is it has marketed itself so agressively as being the alternative to the "mainstream" news broadcasters, rather than as a service that is complementing them by offering a different view on events. It will be interesting to see what narrative this takes - Farage has prior to the escalation of the last few days used his show to sympathise with Putin's concerns over NATO expansion. I'm not sure though that route will play well even with a GB News audience in the days ahead. I'm not sure that's a good business model. That was certainly true until October last year but the stand-alone news bulletins they then introduced have pretty much cleared that problem. Short but comprehensive news bulletins are certainly all I need, I don’t want long drawn out bulletins like everyone else seems to have. I reckon he will quietly drop that angle but you never know with him. It certainly isn’t going to be a popular viewpoint. Will be interesting to see how he handles it. GB News - Brekkie - 24-02-2022 He's double downed on it this morning. Still doesn't make it a news channel. GB News - Scrotnig - 24-02-2022 London Lite post_id=70015 time= user_id=953 Wrote:The amount of news is no different to talkRADIO. Look, I’m not here to defend their business model, nor can I say what technically constitutes a news channel as distinct from something like Talk Radio. I do know that what I wouldn’t want them to be is a copy of BBC News or Sky News. Nothing wrong with what those two do, but a new entrant needs to be different and that difference won’t be to everyone’s taste. Some of their other contributors have been giving the Russian angle in recent days as well. But then there are Russian links in GB News' ownership too so it might not be unwelcome It will be interesting to see how they play it and how it's viewers and some of it's more moderate presenters react GB News - Worzel - 24-02-2022 GB News seemed to fall off air at about 6:45 this evening midway through the Biden presser with a static live camera shot from Kyiv for about 20 minutes before crashing back into a news summary at 7:05. Edit. The news summary ended at 7:10. The Farage titles player with a load of noise and crashed back into a rather surprised Michelle Dewberry who's carried on. GB News - valley - 24-02-2022 I'm not one for bashing GB News for every technical failing but the audio quality is absolutely atrocious on this Farage "Talking Pints" interview with Kimberly Guilfoyle. Admittedly it's being done in an echoey corridor at CPAC in Orlando which doesn't help at all, but it does sound like they're taking the on-camera mic as well as the lavs on the individuals. Plus what appears to be blanking shift at the top of the frame - which didn't exist on the live YouTube feed FWIW. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6k_IPIyj9JQ GB News - Worzel - 24-02-2022 valley post_id=70087 time= user_id=971 Wrote:I'm not one for bashing GB News for every technical failing but the audio quality is absolutely atrocious on this Farage "Talking Pints" interview with Kimberly Guilfoyle. The sound on the other 35 minutes of the programme they actually managed to get on air was just as bad. GB News - Brekkie - 25-02-2022 Would this be their first, presumably live, broadcast from abroad? Although says everything about how on the pulse GB News is that when all the other broadcasters have headed 1500 miles east that GB News have headed over 4000 miles west.
