GB News - Jack - 23-02-2022

Actually looks fine - I think GB News could really do with a couple more sets or locations to break it up.

At least it wasn't in those studios tonight, sometimes it's nice to see something different and I think it made the show more attractive to watch.
Agreed. I actually quite like the GB News studio but something different is always welcome.

It’s just I don’t know where it was and I hate not knowing!

GB News - Jon - 23-02-2022

He said on yesterday's show that he was pre-recording tonight’s special. I assumed they’d do it in the Mark Steyn hour from the USA. But just highlights how silly only having one studio is and how bad their own set design is.

It's the Albert Embankment studio. Pretty sure its a fully equipped studio with cameras, rig and gallery - managed by Media First.

GB News - Newsdog - 23-02-2022

Just dipped in to GB news tonight for the first time in a while. Don’t thinks for me .. the presenter in the 8pm just called the American Vice President a ‘nitwick’.

Now Dan Wootton is on still banging on about mask wearing with his little friends on his superstar panel that appears to include a pub landlord that surprise surprise is against mask wearing. This is not a news channel, it a views station that has hourly news update.

That’s a valid thing to be, isn’t it?

GB News - KrazyKei - 24-02-2022

If I was in charge of the GB News studios, I would partition a wall between the breakfast bar and the settee studio with electric screens. I would replace the breakfast bar itself with a curved desk similar to GMB but slightly lowered down where you wouldn't need stools and indeed sit in proper chairs. Get rid of the hideous brown settees and replace them with a curved brighter coloured settee with electric screens in the background. The main studio desk should be replaced with a lower desk away from the main screen as that can be used similar to how Sky News their main screen for interviews. The interview studio needs to get rid of those black walls and table and replace them with lighter coloured walls and two chairs with a glass desk.

Yes that is my imagination running away with me but so what, everyone has their own opinion about how the GB News studios and my opinion is that there is room for improvement.

If they called themselves GB Views which is a more accurate brand for what they actually do, I doubt they'd come in for as much criticism that they receive. Yes, you'd still get people of a different political viewpoint complaining, but it'd be a lot more low key which would leave them to simply get on with the business of providing a targeted television channel.

I agree that they should be more 'news' in their outlook. Personally, I'd like to see 3x1 hour bulletins a day as they have the newsreaders such as Polly Middlehurst, Rosie Wright and Ray Addison etc more than capable of doing such bulletins.

Why would they want to be low key? It may be more about viewpoints than running traditional news but it’s still viewpoints about News, still debating masks and lockdowns aside. So I don’t agree with idea the name is a misnomer.

At the moment, they're targeting themselves against BBC and Sky News which have better funded resources for providing impartial journalism which is reflected in their BARB figures. Where as the real competition is talkRADIO, the upcoming TalkTV and to a lesser extent LBC who are able to provide opinionated topical discussion on a much smaller budget without being compared to a real news channel.

It is one thing having the news readers, but do they have the news content for 1 hour bulletins? That is a lot more expensive than studio chat.

GB News is joining the UK Broadcasters' Politics Pool (for a trial period)

GB News - Brekkie - 24-02-2022

Just hope it doesn't lower the standard of content delivered into that pool. Notice they couldn't risk a dig as the "establishment broadcasters" in that - like to make out it was the big bullies excluding the newbie when in reality it would have been more about paying your fair share for access. Also goes against their myth of not being London centric.
