I feel the same also. I noticed that Angela Rippon was trending this morning and there were quite a few negative comments about her appearance on GBN. By means I’m no fan of the channel, but I too think some of the criticism of the recent hirings has been unfair at times. At the end of the day, if you don’t like it, don’t watch it and shut up. (If you’ve got nothing nice to say…)

Agreed. I'd hate to be one of the permanently pissed-off on social media. Imagine getting triggered by everything and always seeing the bad in others - no sort of life.

Angela is a legend and should be respected as such, imo.

It was great to see Angela Rippon on there today.

Only a one off appearance of course, but I hope she appears again in the future.

Press Gazette have published an article deatiling GB News viewing and subscription data, including interviews with some people from behind the scenes. I believe Scott Bryan has been against GB News in the past, but I've put I've posted his analysis for further context and to counter some of the over-optomistic tone of the article at times (some of the figures are not the greatest).

Interesting to read that staff numbers have increased to almost 200 from around 140 at launch.

Alastair & Friends bumped from Friday nights after a short spell for Patrick Christys 7pm,2 hour programme.

The schedule seems very changable again

GB News - Brekkie - 17-02-2022

Interesting graph here - both Sky News and BBC News have grown by more than the total GB News audience in the last couple of months. GB News whilst not hitting it's initial interest has grown slightly, but still a very distant third despite the odd scalp. (BBC 15.9m, Sky 10.9m, GB News 2.2m)

Oddly though seems to be no ratings for most of January on BARB for GB News.

Speaking of Scott Bryan, for all the talk of how GB News is on the rise the below pretty much sums it up:

https://twitter.com/scottygb/status/1494639108647538688?s=21

GB News is pretty much an irrelevance when it comes to UK broadcasting.

Hardly surprising Big Jet TV is probably enjoying a record number of viewers curious to see how pilots are coping (or not as the case may be!) with the extreme weather though is it

GB News - Jon - 18-02-2022

I suspect if a commercial radio station had 2 million listeners in a month that would be considered one of the bigger stations in the UK.

The comparison to ‘Big Jet TV’ is amusing but a bit meaningless since that’s pulling in 100k on YouTube which is also beating Sky News on YouTube, although to be fair Sky News is also bringing in 15,000 compared to GB News 100 or so.

I would have expected GB News to have covered the storms quite well, with their network of reporters getting blown over and covered in water all day, but whenever I’ve tuned on 2 or 3 occasions they’ve just been discussing Westminster matters.

There's so much mixed messaging going on with this channel at the moment. They're employing Eammon Holmes for the Breakfast show and trying so hard to portray themselves as a genuine alternative to the likes of the BBC or Sky, whilst simultaneously calling their Friday night show 'Friday Night Feast' like it's an Ant and Dec knock-off. Maybe that's a bit harsh but my point still stands - you can't reasonably do both to high standard in my opinion, and that's showing.

GB News - Ash101 - 18-02-2022

Is Patrick double shifting on a Friday now then?

Makes a change for a cabbie not to get a word in!

GB News - Brekkie - 18-02-2022

Have they got rid of that American then?

And see they're doubling down on their anti-lockdown fallacies next week 11 months on from the last lockdown. Suspect they're desperate to hold on to that audience by retreading over old ground.

GB News - Jon - 18-02-2022

Mark Steyn also been doing 8-9pm Monday to Thursday as well. But that was meant to be being replaced by Question Time type programme which I don’t think has materialised just yet.

GB News - mccanmat - 18-02-2022

Fairly swiftly organised then as I just checked Alastair’s Sunday show and he signed off making a point he was back on Friday at 8pm
