I've just spent a 20 min car journey listening to it. It sounds acceptable (for what passes as acceptable in this day and age).
Some of the crap quality has nothing to do with the DAB encoding, it's lousy at source .
I was surprised, the chunk I heard 16:10 to 16:30 I thought worked quite well as 'radio'.

Listening on RadioPlayer, it sounds like radio and the audio sounds much richer than on the TV feed, so I'm guessing there could be different processing going on for this audio.

Graphically, at least they're trying something different. From the sections I've seen of Breakfast, it's a bit of a throwback but, from a production perspective, it's a lot better.
Content wise, I still find it akin to a local newspaper. Would be nice to see them branching out and trying new presentational aspects.

Cheap equipment? It is quite distracting sometimes.

New email sent last night to me (among many others) regarding 2022 schedule changes.
Of course we all know them by now, but it's a different view nonetheless.

It's fair to say the radio launch was more successful from a technical perspective than the tv launch last summer.
What the radio simulcast has a achieved I think is that some of the tv shows work better on the radio. The Briefing, On the Money and Talking Pints spring to mind as being a much easier listen as a radio programme than on the tv and dare I say, those shows wouldn't sound out of place on Times Radio.

DAB+ is different from DAB. Standard DAB is good as that is what most receivers can get, the + version is newer so you need a better receiver especially aerial, if processor or ariel is not good quality then DAB+ signal will break up more. So look at your equipment if quality is not as good as you expect before complaining broadcaster is at fault. Plus GBNews do not operate broadcasts they send it to a base station and distribution companies like Arqiva operate the arial masts that broadcast arial signals. So if signal is bad its the transmitter company not GBNews at fault.

This is probably the most worrying part:

I would've hoped that sort of training would be part of any induction process for staff before anyone is allowed on air or to start in news gathering behind the scenes. Certainly was for me when I started out.

Its well known Mark Steyn broadcasts his show from home in america but I noticed the first part of the show on thursday 6th he had the red white and blue backdrop but the last quarter of the show he was in room with sofa and wooden desk. Did his cgi backdrop fail or did he just move to another room?
