And involving a team who are still involved in Europe so not many free midweeks for it to go.

Well if the Conference League really counts as still being involved in Europe. Thursdays though means potential for Sat-Mon-Thu week - not ideal but not unprecedented.

Can’t see them going for any Sat-Mon games after all the issues over Christmas with matches only two days apart.

Continuing on the news from RhysJR, ViacomCBS Networks International Americas has taken over the rights to broadcast Premier League on the North Cone zone of Latin America (encompassing Mexico and the Spanish-speaking Central American and Caribbean territories), additionally, non-exclusive rights were offered in Belize and Dominican Republic. All 380 games are being broadcast on the local version of Paramount+, becoming the third territory where the streamer has sports rights (after the US and AU). Some matches will be broadcast as a preview on the local Pluto TV as well.

The previous owner of the rights was Televisa-owned DTH Sky Mexico, who took over from Fox Sports Mexico in 2013 and renewed the contract twice in 2016 and 2019, which offered it as an exclusive for their subscribers. The rights for the South American territories are still unknown, but ESPN Latin America and their streamer Star+ are the current rights holders.

Paul Molnar, Premier League CMO Wrote:“The Premier League is pleased to announce our new partnership with ViacomCBS in Central America. We are very happy that ViacomCBS views the Premier League and our clubs as a vital part of their live sports offering. ViacomCBS platforms, including Paramount Plus and Pluto TV, will be an outstanding home for the Premier League and we look forward to working together to showcase the League to new and existing fans throughout Central America and Mexico.”

Burnley v Leicester postponed from tomorrow. Burnley v Watford on Tuesday also in doubt.

How are Burnley and Leicester going to fit all those matches postponed matches in?

Premier League 2021-2 Season - Television - Newshound47 - 14-01-2022

Arsenal have officially requested the postponement of their match against Spurs (the north London Derby) due to be televised on Sunday due to covid cases, injuries and AFCON absences. The decision if to postpone or not will be decided tomorrow.

I can see the rules changing so only Covid absences are covered. It’s very debatable if Injuries and AFCON should count.

I would not be surprised to see forfeited games later this season because of future rule changes.

Will Sky be happy at the Postponement or not? Their pundits are not but do they reflect the management. Will surely be rescheduled for mid week (possibly up against CL or EL football on BT).

If they haven't got the players they haven't got the players. Where it turns up remains to be seen but it's the sort of fixture which Sky may prefer to have nearer the end of the season than in January anyway.

Technically they do have enough players available if you include youth players. But I agree that it could suit SKy particularly if both teams are still fighting for fourth or higher as they are currently.

UEFA are very much not keen for domestic matches to clash with UCL/UEL/UECL matches. If they have to use European midweek days, we'll probably see 6pm kick-offs on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

UEFA didn’t seem to object last season when Covid caused similar issues. How many non European weeks are there that are still free for Sky to avoid possibly having to air a high profile match at 6pm.

A brief advert break taken (on SS Main Event) during an injury stoppage in the 92nd minute of Aston Villa v Man United - not sure if it was an error.

It would be big news if it wasn't. They apologised for that.
