GB News - BBI45 - 18-11-2021

Just been doing some planning for my annual radio news jingle compilation, but just realised that we're yet to see GB News Radio launch. Is there any more information on it?

And relevancy isn't based purely on audience figures, especially ones as small as these. As I said a page or two back, there's very little buzz about the channel anymore.... and to be fair when there was it wasn't more than not at its expense
Exactly. EastEnders still gets 3-4m viewers each episode but feels somewhat irrelevant nowadays compared to even a decade ago where it's impact was wider felt beyond those that watched.

The trouble GB News has is that supposedly "underrepresented" "marginalised" audience they've gone for is so well served elsewhere it's hard to make themselves heard within it without going even more to the right than perhaps even they would like. Similar content on LBC and TalkRadio seems to go viral almost weekly - I've not really seen anything from GB News, whether mild or extreme, crop up for weeks now.

I’d also not seen anything from them for a while, until today when this little gem came along which I’ve seen retweeted all over my timeline…

A very bad headline indeed. If you read the article you soon find out that actually, they do know he’s dead and are saying that future artists like him could ‘disappear’ (well, quoting an MP saying that actually) but the headline there certainly doesn’t help matters!

I guess we can all confidently say that it's never going to launch. No one has any news about it since the idea was brought up long, long ago.

The TV output is still in focus, which is, let's just say, not as good as it should (have) be(en).

On the subject of the tweet mentioned above, we'll see whether they break own Editorial Charter or not, which has:
Quote:If we get it wrong, we will say so – and explain what happened.
Quote:We have a full and transparent complaints process, dealing with issues swiftly and fairly and correct any errors as soon as we can.

GB News - Brekkie - 19-11-2021

I assume the editorial charter went out with Andrew Neil.

It went out on launch night when Dan Wootton spouted conspiracy theories.

Mark Dolan’s just done an intentionally sarcastic monologue about Andrew Neil which lasted about five minutes. It’s difficult to describe and you’ll have to watch it for yourselves, but it’s safe to say that there is absolutely zero love lost.

GB News - Brekkie - 19-11-2021

And zero professionalism. No other UK television news channel would do such a thing on air.

I agree, but the whole point of GB News is it’s not like other UK news channels.

GB News - James2001 - 19-11-2021

It's not like any channel that could credibly call itself "news".

It happens here at 10:05pm. They even have a backing music track to go with it - I'll try to find its name later.

That's a lazy excuse for GB News and besides RT takes regular pops at other MSM, so GB News is not unique in that.
The fact is they are preaching to the converted (and a small number at that) and being smug rebels will not help them financially.
As has been said before by others here: where is that big interview or news story that get them noticed and more importantly rivals envious of that story? Interestingly when 'city TV' was first suggested years ago many newsrooms were worried about their futures. With GB News this is simply not the case - their audience is pitifully small which nationally cannot even beat a regional Sunday teatime bulletin. When Murdoch's new station launches you can expect a big story or two supported by his other press/TV & radio.
It will also be in focus and with clean audio on launch...

How pathetic. How absolutely pathetic. I don't even know where to start. They seem to have both a superiority complex and and inferiority complex.

I was expecting GB News to be different, but the only thing that has stood out to me is how much self-conflict is going on. They're wanting to be seen as a major force in British broadcasting, whilst still somehow staying the underdog. They're a force to be reckoned with when something goes in their favour, but a modest start-up when things don't work out. They claim to be thick-skinned and a supporter of free speech, but whenever they're criticised, they feel the need to defend themselves and act like they're not being treated fairly.

If they're wanting to take this sort of approach, then they should pick a side and stick to it.

GB News - adamiow - 20-11-2021

Quite amusing that Mark is talking about all of this considering he didn't join the channel until after Andrew left for the summer.

Rather pathetic they feel the need to cover this - take the higher ground and move on.

If they called themselves "GB Opinions" or something along those lines, I doubt they'd get half the criticism they receive as a supposed news channel, when really it's a low budget talkRADIO.

GB News - TMD_24 - 21-11-2021

A new show is down on the schedules called The Discussion presented by Inaya Folarin Iman. It's on Saturday 6pm-7pm.
