GB News - This is UTV - 11-11-2021

Tbh I thought Eamonn would have been going to Talk TV, but I'll be happy to see him on GBN instead.

I hope this breaking news is true. This will be massive for GBN. Eamonn and Farage back to back would be a great evening lineup.

Well like I said, this has not been confirmed and there is still a chance that the story could be untrue you know what these tabloids are like

GB News - CantGetIn - 11-11-2021

Wow if they have him I’m sure to watch a welcome face and I’d expect a suitable show.

Although to be fair I’d fall off my chair more if they had taken Adam Boulton!

GB News - JK08 - 11-11-2021

If it’s true, I’d like to claim my £5 for predicting Eamonn’s involvement in GBN back when the channel was first announced (although this news comes a little later than I expected).

In all seriousness though, I doubt Eamonn’s new show will help ratings at all. I did fear that GBN might actually be successful, but I’d say given we’re 5 months into its lifespan and ratings are on the floor, I can’t see how anything can pick it up really?

GB News - BBCMeridian - 12-11-2021

My suspicious are now raised, it's looking likely that once again the tabloids have lied about Eamonn quitting This Morning and joining GB News because Emily Lipman who works at GB News has tweeted saying she's not sure if this is true, which I'm guessing that nobody at GB News has heard of this and that the tabloids are once again making the whole thing up https://www.twitter.com/emilyk_lipman/status/1458921453567545344

Mark Dolan's slot on GBN is accordingly being retitled to be consistent with Dan Wootton's.

It is now apparently getting a skyscraper-heavy look.

Just to clarify, this part in bold, Sky News’ ‘least watched show’, do you mean the lowest of the top 15? Because being the bottom of the top 15 and the lowest rated show on the channel overall are really, really quite different things.

Outside of the top 15, Sky News gets about 16,000 viewers for the climate show, for example, so some of its figures are certainly similar to GB News.

(This isn’t a defence of GB News’ dire figures I hasten to add, just think it’s important to be accurate when reporting statistics)

Reports: Eamonn Holmes Quits ITV - JamesWorldNews - 12-11-2021

After an initial comment online, it is now widely reported in a number of tabloids, citing various sources, that Eamonn Holmes has quit his role on ITV’s This Morning, and will take up a new role at GB News.

Ruth Langsford is also expected to leave This Morning, but to remain as the lead presenter of Loose Women.

Whilst, using Eamonn’s own words, all good things must come to an end, I’m quite sad to hear of this news. The E&R partnership is - for me - one of the best on our televisions. It seems that will now far less common.

The question is: will he leave immediately or will he get a send-off from This Morning?

Topic title edited by Rob - as it's not been confirmed by GB News or Eamonn themselves yet.

GB News - Toby brown - 12-11-2021

Surely eamonn could do both this morning and gb news. He did this morning and sky news at the same time

I think the question is would ITV (and GB News) want him to be doing that? IF the rumours are true, then I'm not so sure they would...

GB News - Adsales101 - 12-11-2021

GBN - the home for has-beens and never-will-bees 8-)

Let's hope they employ him as I'm sure he wouldn't want to lose another IR35 case.

It is the lowest of top 15, indeed. I always make that distinction when I reported figures; sadly, I forgot to do so in this case.

This is a very mind-boggling part for me.

To be absolutely clear, Sky News is located even further off GBN headquarters than ITV's...

The above is all really minor stuff that doesn't really matter, but I long for it to be consistent!

This simply reinforces impression that GBN adds bulletins because they were forced to.

If the news of TalkTV's launch didn't exist, I wouldn't bet more than a dime that the change happened voluntarily.

Indeed he was at Sky News for years and his show only got a fraction of the viewers that Breakfast/GMB/Daybreak etc got and wasn’t even the highest rated programme much of the time on Sky News and often actually the weekend version of Sunrise with Mark Longhurst rated higher than Eamonn’s editions.

If ITV still wanted him perhaps they would but it is no secret he and Ruth are being moved on.
